As part of the SPEED programme you are required to attend a week of training. Organised by Dan at the EIC, it had an excellent programme and taught me so many skills including networking, people skills/types, time management and branding. Furthermore is always great to ne surrounded by so many interesting characters.

Designed as a mini MBA its skills training for the aspiring entrepreneur. The focus is the self and ones business and how to talk to the market. Importantly although done as a group the training was still very personal and therefore effective. It taught me so much about myself, others and how we all fit in together. How we all we think, how we work, how we lock our selves down, how we rise and perhaps most importantly for me, how best to manage our time…

I plan to cover some more of what I learnt in the future

First of all a big thanks to Hazel Westwood and Greg …… for teaching me so much about the media in such a short time.

The day consists of 4 different stlyes of interview:news flash, print, radio and studio. I had approached the day thinking I was going to be talking about Build enterprsie and what i was doing, but the interview had nothing to do with me. I was being used as a tool to make point, that not only belittled what i was doing but was also engineered to attack the goverment and the current economic climate.

In the first interview (news flash) I felt a fool and it hurt. The second interview (print) went well. It was eaisier as it was mainly about Build Enterprsie. In the 3rd I tripped myself up butr recoverd well with regard to my lack of political knowledge. The topic of the interview was the Trade mininster, Lord Digby Jones’s comment, that he wouldn’t back the Prime Minister in his policies. I niavely thought he was part of Labour and this was picked up on, but luckliy I repiled, that since the Labour party are in goverment he effectively is part of a Labour goverment and to do his job properly he has to back the Prime Minister. Lastly we had a studio interview which went so much better and made me realsie a vast improvement in my interview skills.
